Abstract: This document investigated the application of music as a tool to improve English listening skills in high school students. More specifically, how to improve the ability to listen for specific information and to listen for gist. This research was carried out with a group of 33 students, where different types of activities were carried out with the aim of providing students with tools that would help them discover the general meaning of the song used, or specific vocabulary and grammatical structures within the lyrics. The results of the research were satisfactory, as progress in the students' listening skills was made, as well as improvement in their behavior within the classroom and during English class; At the end of the research, it was found that the students no longer interrupted the activities as they did at the beginning, they were more focused and even participated more in the activities that included music; therefore, it was concluded that due to the benefits and effects of music in the academic performance and mood of the students, it can be considered an effective tool to help students become familiar with the language, as well as improve the classroom environment and the attitude of the students towards the English lannguage.
